On the one-year anniversary of its establishment, Walmart announced the success of its Live Better U educational program. The program prepares associates for continuing education and the workplace of the future, allowing them to earn collegiate and high school educational credit for just $1/day.
The Live Better U program includes the degree offering, free high school completion for associates and eligible family members, discounts on higher education programs and free foreign language learning. Currently, more than 7,500 Walmart associates from all 50 states have been accepted into at least one of the programs. Additionally, Live Better U was recently listed among the top 5 on Fortune’s Change the World list.
Here’s how the program has positively impacted Arizona associates in the past year:
• There are currently 104 associates enrolled in Live Better U College Start/Degree Programs
• Associates have earned a total value of $385,000 in credits
• 855 credits have been completed
• There are currently 90 associates enrolled in Live Better U’s High School Completion Program
“The Live Better U opportunity improves how I feel Walmart thinks about me. It helps me feel like they don’t only appreciate me as is but want to improve me and allow me to grow,” said Brad Fritz, Walmart associate.
Nationally, Live Better U associates have completed more than 36,000 credits worth a total of $17 million since the program launched last September. Additionally, Walmart has paid a total of $450,000 in books and fees for associates.
