The countdown is on!

You’re about to become a parent. Congratulations! But before you get too excited, it’s time to start to prepare for a baby.

It might seem like there’s a lot of stuff out there and not enough time to do all the research. We know how overwhelming it can be, but we want to make this easier for you by giving you some advice based on our own experience with babies and parents alike.

So here goes… 10 newborn tips and things to buy now for your baby that will make life easier later on.

1) Crib/Cot

You will need to make sure there’s room in your bedroom for the baby when it arrives. Make sure that you have enough space around the bed so your child won’t get caught between the wall and the crib.

2) Diapers

Believe it or not, you will go through a lot of diapers during your child’s first 2 years on Earth! Therefore, you must have an ample supply stocked up before your baby arrives.

3) Baby Monitor

If you ever intend to sleep again once the baby is born, then we recommend getting a monitor that has video capabilities (otherwise known as a “nanny cam”). This way, you can see your baby’s every move without having to get out of bed.

4) Cute Outfit

This is an absolute MUST. You will want to make sure you have the cutest baby outfit on the block for when people come over to visit your child! If you don’t know where to start with this one, check out Gap for some awesome deals on cute baby clothes!

5) Wipes

You will probably find yourself using wipes more often than not especially if you’re taking care of a boy. They are an essential item that everyone should have in their house just in case it gets dirty!

6) Changing Table/Pad

This is simply a table with padding on top so you can place your baby on it to change his or her diaper. You can either buy one if you have the money or use an old dresser!

7) Diaper Bag

This is meant for moms who are always on the go and need to carry all of their belongings at once. The diaper bag has 2 straps that allow you to cross them over your body, kind of like how men usually wear backpacks!

Don’t forget your diaper bag tote.

8) Swing

This is used for mothers who want to feed their child, but don’t feel like holding them the whole time. It can be strapped to any smooth surface (like a door or wall) and give your child some delightfully swinging motion!

9) Baby Bibs

Just because you’re not breastfeeding anymore doesn’t mean that your baby won’t drool! Make sure you have enough bibs on hand so that you always have one to clean off your baby after each meal.

10) Breast Pads

Just because you’re breastfeeding doesn’t mean that your breasts will stay the same size!!! You may have already noticed that they have gotten bigger…so you need breast pads to prevent any embarrassing situations due to leakage!
