Gym membership is on the rise. An estimated 20 percent of Americans belong to a fitness club or studio – a figure that has grown by more than 30 percent over the past decade, according to data from the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association.

At the same time the fitness industry is seeing exponential growth, so are parts of the Phoenix metro, including the booming Camelback Corridor. This growing area is home to the Valley’s next HIIT by LAF studio, a newly remodeled space within the existing LA Fitness club at Camelback and I-51 (2077 E. Camelback Road) that adds a layer of high-intensity interval training workouts, allowing participants to burn up to 1,000 calories per workout including calories that may burn even after the workout ends (results may vary).

A highlight of the renovations is the introduction of HIIT by LAF to select clubs in Arizona. HIIT by LAF is a high-intensity interval training workout that combines a variety of functional exercises, core training, cardio interval training, and strength training in each high-energy workout.

The opening of this latest HIIT by LAF studio in October – the fifth in the Valley – coincides with the one-year anniversary of the program’s launch last fall. The Arizona market is leading the national roll-out of HIIT by LAF, and plans to introduce a sixth Valley studio scheduled to open in Chandler later this year.

HIIT by LAF, which now has nearly 30 studios across the country, is a high-tech and high-energy workout designed for anyone and everyone looking to take their fitness to the next level. Each 50-minute workout is led by motivating, certified fitness coaches who set the pace and vibe of the room. The highly interactive nature means that class sizes are limited, but the new Camelback studio will be the largest in the Valley with 24 spots in each session – compared to the 16 spots offered at the other Phoenix locations, which can be found in North Phoenix, Gilbert, Surprise and San Tan Valley.

“Since introducing HIIT by LAF, we’ve seen a huge surge in interest in this workout program,” said Dion Gentile, Regional VP of Sales and Marketing at LA Fitness. “The immediate feedback, encouragement from coaches, and most importantly, the results, are attracting people with a wide range of fitness levels and even age. It’s a concise workout with a big impact, and in this time-strapped world, it’s an effective way to take meaningful steps toward a healthier lifestyle.”

Each HIIT by LAF workout is comprised of a variety of functional exercises, core training, cardio interval training, and strength training. Wearing optional heart rate monitors, participants are led through five heart rate training zones with each zone representing variations in levels of intensity.

Unlike most other traditional high-intensity interval training programs, HIIT by LAF offers a different workout every day, using cutting-edge equipment in a state-of-the-art studio packed with modern interactive technology that provides participants real-time feedback and motivating music that helps get the adrenaline going.

Earlier this summer, LA Fitness celebrated a statewide investment of $13.6 million into renovations for its Arizona clubs, which included refurbishment ranging from new cardio and strength equipment, basketball courts, cycling studios, saunas, steam rooms and lockers to specialized flooring, refreshed pools and studios, updated reception and personal training areas, and modernized Kids Klubs.

Workout schedules are unique to each HIIT by LAF location, and in order to participate in HIIT by LAF, an individual must first be an LA Fitness member. A separate membership agreement and fees are required to access this specialized workout. For more information and for workout times, visit www.hiitbylaf.com or @hiitbylaf on Instagram.
