In celebration of gay marriage now being legal in Arizona and Kimpton’s longtime support of the LGBTQ community, Kimpton Hotels of Arizona hosted a $40K giveaway a few months back for a free wedding, rehearsal dinner and mini honeymoon.
One lucky couple was chosen as the winner and on April 4, they said “I do”! Gwen Haywood and Rhonda Bailey of Phoenix were married in front 125 guests at LUSTRE Rooftop Garden at Hotel Palomar Phoenix, one of the most awe-inspiring locations in all of Downtown perched on the hotel’s third-floor pool deck. The venue offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains, downtown skyline of skyscrapers and historic buildings, city lights, Chase Field and U.S. Airways Center.
The couple submitted a video of their love story and after 18,000 votes over the course of 10 days, they were declared the winners, beating out four other couples for this amazing opportunity.
Kimpton Hotels of Arizona, with the help of select community vendors and various donations, is providing all items for the approximately $40,000 wedding, including the wedding dress, suits, flowers, music/DJ, photographer, cinematographer, linens, wedding planner and more.
The newlyweds also enjoyed a rehearsal dinner at Kimpton’s Firesky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale that included transportation to and from
the resort as well as a complimentary dinner for up to 20 guests at Taggia.
Gwen and Rhonda will be whisked away on a complimentary honeymoon at Kimpton’s Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona, including dinner for two at the resort’s signature restaurant and a couple’s massage at Amara Spa.
