Construction has started on Unbaked Edible Cookie Dough in Old Town Scottsdale. The hip dessert shop will be the first of its kind in Arizona and will be situated in the recently built 2nd Street Hub buildings located at 3720 N. Scottsdale Road.
The new concept, which is targeted to open mid-April was inspired by the growing trend in dessert shops opening in other major cities. Unbaked will offer a selection of housemade cookie dough and ice cream in a variety of flavors. The specialty dessert shop will also have ice cream sandwiches and for the more traditional customers, baked cookies.
“We recognized the trend and wanted to bring it to our own backyard, but with an added twist,” states Perry Peterson, owner and “untrepreneur” behind Unbaked. “We are opening our first shop this spring, but our goal is to expand and introduce Unbaked to other neighborhoods.”
Archicon Architecture and Interiors and Phoenix Construction Group were hired to design and build the 1,300 square foot space, which includes a limited mix of tables and booths for seating. The interior design incorporates a variety of textures and bold color against a white backdrop that will include a large signature pink neon sign stating, “I got chip-faced at Unbaked.” Guests will also discover Unbaked’s branded humor in word art enhancing the hallway and bathroom walls. Whimsical pendant lighting above the order counter and seating along with LED lights illuminating the tables, give the space a fun, modern vibe.
Architect Paul Sarantes, a partner at Archicon says, “Design touches like the pendant lights shaped like beaters will remind customers they are mixing cookie dough in the kitchen, while the pops of color and wall graphics will make the space a fun destination that locals and tourists will want to visit.”
Prior to opening the store, Unbaked will participate in the Scottsdale Artwalk event on Thursday, March 22, where they will be giving away free samples of cookie dough at Tilt Gallery located at 7077 East Main Street. On April 5, they will be set up in courtyard at Marshall Square at the southwest corner of Main and Marshall for Taste of Scottsdale.
