A brand new restaurant concept will open its doors later this month in Scottsdale. Modern Oysterbar Chophouse is set to turn the dining scene on its head in Arizona. The locally owned upscale venue will focus on the dining experience while offering only the freshest ingredients. At the focal point of the restaurant will sit an impressive oyster bar.

“There is a high demand in the Valley for fresh and innovative seafood and shellfish,” said cofounder Frank Schneider. “We found the perfect location for this concept and we are excited to see it unfold into a reality.”

Located in what was formerly Sonata’s Restaurant, the 6,000-square-foot space includes a full-service bar that seats 14 and will have four different wines, two specialty cocktails and draft beer all on tap. A charcoal grey and deep blue interior add to the ambience with high tops spaced throughout the bar area. Plush seating in the front of the house dining area will accommodate up to 299 guests. A private dining room will hold parties for up to 30 people. A large oyster bar is the main visual attraction upon entering MODERN with seating for 12. Guests will be able to enjoy the full menu at the raw bar as they watch chefs in action. An impressive outside patio that seats 30 for dining includes a cozy fire pit, 36 high tops and 14 stools around a full bar.

The restaurant’s co-founders include Schneider and husband and wife team Cat and Randy Frankel. The trio brings nearly 99 years of combined restaurant experience from notable places as Steak 44, Zinc Bistro, Mary Elaine’s, Mastro’s Ocean Club and Bourbon and Bones. Pastry Chef Samantha Frankel, formerly of Zinc Bistro, has put together an impressive dessert and cheese charcuterie lineup that will bring the chophouse dining experience to a whole new level. Executive Chef Mike Bouwens brings his many years of steakhouse experience to the team. Rounding out the management team is Beverage Manager Dylan Frankel, former assistant general manager at Zinc Bistro and bar manager at Square One Concepts, Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers.

“This is not your average steakhouse,” said Cat. “Every detail is being considered to make this a true culinary experience.”

A signature cocktail program will be spearheaded by renowned mixologist Richie Moe.

“We are showcasing the best in meats, raw seafood and in house desserts. The cocktail component is equally as impressive,” said Randy.

Modern Oysterbar Chophouse is set to open the end of January. The restaurant is located on the southwest corner of Scottsdale Rd. and Gold Dust Ave. at 10050 N. Scottsdale Rd. #127.
