From 40 stories above San Diego Bay to suite-level seats at Petco Park, the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is turning a Padres weekend into something far more curated than a simple night at the ballpark.
The San Diego Padres are in the thick of the National League Wild Card race, so now is the perfect time to indulge in the hotel’s $7,000 Signature Diamond Experience.

OK, so the D-backs are still battling as well, but enjoy San Diego’s cool weather and our rivals at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. The package welcomes fans to the penthouse’s newly renovated space, waterfront dining, and the stadium’s red-lit and moody speakeasy. The hotel is steps (literally) from Seaport Village, Petco Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, and the marina, creating a baseball getaway that blends luxury with insider access.
According to Dena Roady, area vice president and general manager, the package was available last year. But this year, the focus is on the penthouse’s recent transformation and its proximity to Petco Park.
“We saw an opportunity to expand the concept into a more immersive game-day experience centered around thoughtful, premium touches throughout the stay,” she said.
“It brings together a curated lineup of game-day experiences, from access to the Diamond Room and pre-game experience to time at Sally’s Waterfront Dining, all paired with the convenience of being just steps from Petco Park.”
The penthouse is a showstopper, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the cinematic San Diego. After sunset, the city sharpens into a grid of lights, and the Midway’s lit hull casts dramatic shadows that make the ship look sculpted against the dark water.
Look to the left to see the Pacific Ocean in the distance, and, closest to the hotel, the San Diego Bay shimmers.

Roady said the penthouse gave the hotel “the perfect opportunity to showcase our newly renovated suites, creating an elevated overnight experience that pairs luxury accommodations with exclusive access and memorable moments around the game.”
For Arizona travelers, the experience doubles as a welcome escape from the summer heat. With San Diego’s coastal breezes, walkable waterfront and cooler temperatures, the Signature Diamond Experience becomes an easy long-weekend retreat — a chance to trade triple-digit desert days for bay views, ocean air, and a baseball weekend built around comfort rather than weather.
From there, the experience unfolds in layers. Baseball-inspired welcome gifts greet guests on arrival — a clear bag (inevitably, while packing, we inevitably forget the stadium-required bag) and Cracker Jack (yay!).
Next comes the behind-the-scenes Petco Park tour, an interesting mix of baseball trivia and craft cocktails. Guides give fans a sneak peek of the indoor batting cages and allow them to stand near first base to hear about the expansive park’s history. Batting practice is sometimes on the itinerary.
Insiders share stadium lore and hidden gems — literally — such as the time capsules buried beneath each base. Tucked quietly in the infield, they will be unearthed in 2029, 2044, 2069, and 2104.
The hands-on cocktail class, Saturday Shaken & Stirred, in the Diamond Room, is next. The Diamond Room opened in 2026 in partnership with the Padres. The 45-minute Saturday Shaken & Stirred classes are guided by the general manager or lead bartender, who introduces guests to the world of high-quality spirits and, subsequently, to tastings.
Newbies don’t have to worry. They are welcome and will, for sure, get a laugh while elevating their mixology skills.
“Its location makes it a natural stop before or after a game,” Roady said. “The space has a darker, more intimate feel, with a cocktail-focused atmosphere that makes it a nice complement to the energy of game day.”
Suite-level seats at the game round out the evening. “Suites are located throughout the ballpark — field level, terrace level, tower lofts, the Historic Western Metal Building and specialty suites,” Roady said.
Food and beverage aren’t included, but dishes may be ordered from local favorites Board & Brew, Seaside Market and Cutwater. For groups celebrating a milestone or hosting clients, the hotel can arrange in-suite service.
Flexibility is built into the package.
“The Signature Diamond Experience was designed to be flexible, allowing guests to tailor the experience to their preferences,” Roady said.
The package is $7,000, and up to six guests are welcome; others may stay elsewhere. The Signature Diamond Experience is perfect for families: Kids can camp out in the one-bedroom penthouse, share Petco Park’s little-known facts with friends from home, admire souvenirs at Seaport Village, and then see players like Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill.
“Being so close to Petco Park makes it especially easy for families to build a game into a San Diego stay without having to worry about transportation or a long trip back to the hotel afterward,” she said.
Dining remains a highlight of the property, especially Sally’s Waterfront Dining. Specializing in coastal seafood and steakhouse, the hotel’s signature restaurant overlooks the peaceful, breezy marina. Bicyclists ride along the marina perimeter; others walk to explore the beauty.
Sally’s Signature D’epi Baguette is the star, featuring Asiago cheese, rosemary, caramelized onion, and herb honey butter. The entrées are a tad small. The Baja fajitas — flame-grilled beef, fresh bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions — arrive in a tiny, circular sizzling skillet. The dish looks more like an appetizer than a full dinner.
“Sally’s is the hotel’s signature waterfront restaurant, serving fresh seafood, hand-cut steaks and coastal-inspired dishes,” Roady said. “
The only limitation on the Signature Diamond Experience is availability.
“Game tickets, hotel accommodations and Petco Park suite inventory are all subject to availability,” Roady said. “Otherwise, the package is not restricted based on the opponent, promotional giveaways or other game-day events.”
During a recent media visit, the hotel showcased the full arc of the experience: cocktails at Top of the Hyatt, dinner at Sally’s, a VIP Petco Park tour, the Diamond Room pre-game experience, suite-level seats for the Padres game, and a leisurely morning at Coastline Pool.
The itinerary underscored the hotel’s goal — to create a game-day weekend that feels seamless, elevated and unmistakably San Diego.
