West Valley businesses looking for growth opportunities are invited to a creative collaboration and networking event. April 29-May 5 marks National Small Business Week. To celebrate the value of small businesses, entrepreneurs, solo-practitioners, and their impact to the local economy, StarshineAZ, a West Valley collaborative community for women business owners is hosting a special event. “Collaborations and Cocktails” will take place May 2 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the StarshineAZ Glendale campus, 6801 N. Glen Harbor Blvd., at the Glendale Airport.

This free event encourages attendees to mix and mingle, hear thoughts from local dignitaries including Council Members Bridget Binsbacher of Peoria, and Joyce Clark, of Glendale, about the value of small businesses to the West Valley, and meet other business owners. The event will include food, wine and music.

“At StarshineAZ, our goal is not to be your mother’s networking group. Here, it’s about making face-to-face connections, developing mutually-beneficial relationships and collaborating in order to create a more organic networking experience. It’s not just about handing out business cards,” said Susan F. Moody, StarshineAZ Co-Founder. “We want to support and connect small businesses, women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, with the tools and resources they need to be successful.”

National Small Business Week was introduced in 1963 and recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. According to the Small Business Administration, more than half of all Americans either own or work for a small business today, and small businesses create roughly two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

The Collaborations and Cocktails event will be co-hosted by Women Owned Women Operated Business (WOWOB) and My Office Business Suites. This is the first time these three influential organizations have hosted an event together.

Launched in May, 2017, StarshineAZ operates as an Arizona Benefit Corporation, a for-profit company with a social conscience. The organization’s five collaborative communities, located in Central Phoenix, Glendale, North Phoenix, Peoria and Surprise, are designed to create positive personal, social and economic impact in local communities. StarshineAZ provides support, training, advice, resources and solutions for business owners. From meeting rooms to mentoring, Starshine Communities supports all aspects of small business owners’ needs.
