Downtown Phoenix’s newest high-rise hotel is now open

Marriott International, Inc. recently announced the grand opening of downtown Phoenix’s newest landmark, a combined 200-suite Residence Inn hotel and 120-room Courtyard hotel in the heart of the city’s sports and entertainment district. Soaring over the NW corner of Central and Madison Avenues (132 S. Central Ave.), the Residence Inn/Courtyard Phoenix Downtown share an all-new $70M, 20-story tower featuring an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and 5,733 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 270 people. The closest hotels to the Talking Stick Arena and Chase Field, both of these stylish urban properties offer direct access to the Phoenix Light Rail System, and are within walking distance to the Phoenix Convention Center, ASU – Downtown Phoenix campus and more.

As part of its grand opening, the Residence Inn/Courtyard Phoenix Downtown is also offering exciting Stay & Play rates just for Arizona residents. Offered now through September 30, locals can enjoy exclusive reduced rates of $79 at the Courtyard Phoenix Downtown, and $94 at the Residence Inn Phoenix Downtown. (Use promo code “LPR”, based upon availability, must present AZ ID upon check-in).

Owned and managed by Hansji Corporation of Anaheim, CA–best known locally for its multiyear, multimillion-dollar historic restoration of the adjacent Luhrs City Center–the hotels are managed by GM, Jim Paulon. A longtime Marriott veteran who previously managed high-profile hotels such as the Courtyard by Marriott New York SoHo and Providence Marriott Downtown in Rhode Island, Paulon says he’s proud to contribute to the ongoing revitalization efforts across downtown Phoenix. “As the fifth largest city in the nation, Phoenix is craving state-of-the-art urban hotels that appeal to both business travelers and tourists, but also locals looking to explore all the exciting new food, sports and entertainment options downtown has to offer.”

Offering two different yet complementary hotel properties under a single stylish roof is also highly appealing to today’s hotel guests, says Residence Inn/Courtyard Phoenix Downtown’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Yvette Koebke, a longtime hospitality expert with deep Valley ties. “The Residence Inn caters to extended stay guests looking for functional yet fashionable places to live, work and play, while Courtyard offers the perfect mix of value and contemporary style for today’s travelers.”

“Attracting both business travelers as well as tourists, the downtown Phoenix area is an ideal location for the dual opening,” says Janis Milham, senior vice president, modern essentials and extended stay brands for Marriott International. “Each brand offers distinct amenities and services that tailor to all visitors.”
