A full-scale guestroom renovation at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain is complete, transforming Mountain Casitas and Suites with a fresh, contemporary look, and introducing a fourth room category. New “Camelback” Casitas and Suites join the fold, nestled high into the resort’s namesake mountain, showcasing premium views of the aptly named Paradise Valley and beyond. They share the design sensibility of the remodeled Mountain casitas, and complement Sanctuary’s Spa Casitas and Suites, as well as its collection of Private Estate Homes.
New Camelback and Mountain guestrooms – the vision of designer Judith Testani – are fashioned to capture the dramatic vistas of the Arizona desert. The design is sleek, spacious and contemporary in feel; a neutral color palette includes touches of warm wood tones. Walls are accented with desert-inspired artwork and photography from local artists, and large-format tile flooring throughout each room. Custom-crafted wood furnishings are complemented by a large area rug featuring a Monarch butterfly in shades of orange, blue or yellow, which adds a striking pop of color. The rug is a nod to Sanctuary’s certification as a Monarch habitat, and the growing abundance of butterflies in the Scottsdale area. Bathrooms might be considered the “pièce de résistance” of the renovation, featuring a focal wall of smoked mirrored glass that serves as the backdrop to an oversized soaking tub. They are also fitted with a separate tiled shower and lit vanity mirrors, and bathed in natural light thanks to newly installed skylights.
At 500-square-feet, Camelback and Mountain Casitas feature a separate seating area with table and comfortable chairs as well as a dry bar, perfect for mixing a cocktail to enjoy an epic Sonoran sunset. The layout of the furniture and spacious patio of Camelback and Mountain Suites embraces the desert landscape. Both the 1,000-square-foot one-bedroom and 1,500-square-foot two-bedroom suites feature a living and dining area with inviting seating options. A wood-burning fireplace and dry bar provide a sophisticated spot to settle in on a cool desert evening.
Standard amenities are anything but average at Sanctuary, and shared by all guestroom categories. These include Italian Casa Rovea linens, Simmons Felicity pillow-top mattresses, custom Red Flower amenities in an Asian Neroli scent created exclusively for Sanctuary, in-room Peet’s Coffee and Fonté Tea service, signature green robes and sandals, and access to the award-winning Sanctuary Spa facilities, including all movement studio classes.
