As part of the final phases of a development agreement with the City of Phoenix, Metrowest Development and Baron Properties and Haselden Investments are proceeding with new residential development projects on City of Phoenix owned vacant lots in the Roosevelt Neighborhood downtown.

Baron Properties has broken ground on The McKinley, a boutique offering of 108 luxury apartment units for rent in downtown’s historic Roosevelt neighborhood. Metrowest Development, having completed the first phase of the neighborhood redevelopment project with the Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation of both the P.A. Theraldson and the James W. Stone Houses on 2nd Avenue, will also be developing another luxury for-sale townhome community on the adjoining parcel called Residences on 2nd.

Baron Properties and Metrowest Development have strong histories of successfully launching developments that complement the artistic energy of the neighborhood while blending new urban residential development within the context of historic neighborhoods. Often considered pioneers in the revitalization of the area, their development strategy was a reaction to recent interest in Downtown Phoenix and its adjacent neighborhoods. The vacant lots and historic homes that are now part of this redevelopment effort had been left vacant and physically deteriorated for over 30 years. With the final completion of these projects, new residents will be able to call this downtown neighborhood home.

Baron Properties has been investing in Phoenix since 2004, and currently operates 12 rental communities across the region. Their portfolio includes two communities that were developed in conjunction with Haselden Investments on Roosevelt Row in 2017, iLuminate and Linear. In May of 2017, Arizona Multihousing Association awarded iLuminate Apartments the prestigious Development of the Year award for Best Design. Metrowest Development, has been actively developing in the Roosevelt Neighborhood since 2008 and has successfully developed and completed projects in the neighborhood including Townhomes on 3rd, Cathedral Townhomes, McKinley Row, and recently completed and opened the impressive Union @ Roosevelt mixed-use development in 2017. Both companies are sensitive to preserving the history of the neighborhood and bring elements of art, culture, and community into their development process. Both developments are expected to be completed and available for move-in in the summer of 2020.
