Imagine prepping for your next trip without worrying about long security-check lines; leaving golf clubs, skis and strollers to the mercy of the baggage carousel; and all the other annoyances of commercial flights. Ad Astra, Scottsdale’s premier private flight company, solves these travel troubles and more, making trips to nearby Southwest destinations convenient, stress-free and comfortable. Ad Astra also makes private flights efficient for small corporate teams, or even individual flights

Membership made easy

For Valley travelers headed to nearby destinations — think Los Angeles, Santa Fe and Las Vegas — Ad Astra’s $120 monthly membership (each flight is an added cost) provides several perks that other private-jet companies and commercial airlines simply cannot match.

All Ad Astra members have a dedicated flight booking concierge, luxury transportation to and from Scottsdale Airport, complimentary in-hangar valet parking, curated food and beverage selections and each membership includes two primary members — and up to four additional passengers.

“The biggest difference with Ad Astra’s membership is that normally if you’re buying a jet card, you’d have a minimum of a $80,000-100,000 annual spend to get a preloaded jet card with say, 30 flight hours at $3,5000 per flight hour, or 20 flight hours at $4,000 a flight hour,” explains Ryan Strand, founder of Ad Astra. “Instead of having a huge cash commitment, our members just pay a membership fee to keep their security status and bespoke preferences on file, and then a much lower price per flight hour.”

Flight destinations and pricing

Typically, Ad Astra’s membership offers any flight under two hours.

“We post flat-rate pricing to the most common cities like San Diego, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas,” Strand says, “but members can also build a custom itinerary. Depending on where they go and for how many days, pricing can get down as low as $2,200 per flight hour.”

When sizing up Ad Astra’s value proposition, Strand uses first-class commercial flight pricing as a comparison. Using the example of four people flying first-class with checked baggage on a commercial flight, Ad Astra’s flight costs (depending on destination and longevity of the trip) are often similar. As for the benefits of flying private — that’s where Ad Astra soars above first class.

“You can book a flight on your own aircraft and fly into a smaller destination or a smaller airport closer to your final destination, versus having to go into LAX and deal with security and take an hour Uber ride to your final stop,” Strand says.

Strand adds that Ad Astra places high importance on pricing transparency. “We’ve created a customer-facing flat rate. There are no surprises about how much a flight is going to cost.”

Big bonus benefits

As mentioned earlier, Ad Astra has several added benefits: No booking intermediary (flights are scheduled directly with a concierge); no extra baggage fees or security checks; the freedom of not having to pack a car for a long road trip; eliminating concerns about parking; and the ability to carry on golf clubs, strollers and skis right onto the jet. Plus, pets are welcome aboard! Their policy is capped at 2 pets, flight weight limits depending,  but they have made exceptions for multiple little ones, getting to new homes!

Once a hassle-free flight is booked, friends, families or those traveling for business can catch a movie or show on the jet’s drop-down TV, sip a favorite beverage, charge up electronic devices and sit back and relax.

When should — or can — you book a flight?

Another major Ad Astra advantage — flights can be arranged on demand. “We can facilitate a flight as soon as the same day,” Strand says. “It just depends on what is already scheduled that day.”

Jets are available on a first book, first served basis but Strand recommends requesting a flight at least a week and a half out to ensure flight requests will be secured.

Flights can accommodate one to four adults, or four adults and two small children.
