President of UMB Bank Arizona
Background: Faver has 29 years of experience in the financial services industry and joined UMB in 2011. He serves as the president of UMB Bank’s Arizona region. His focus is on leading UMB’s operations in Arizona, which includes growing UMB’s market share in the region while maintaining current relationships, managing the commercial banking team and building the region’s long-term strategy. Faver earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from Arizona State University. He is currently a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) Scottsdale and a board member for both Teach for America in Phoenix and the Phoenix Art Museum.
Source of pride: “A highlight of my career was working with my amazing team at UMB to help our clients through the Paycheck Protection Program loan process in 2020. It was extremely impactful to see our team pull together to help support both our clients and community during a time of such uncertainty.”
Professional advice: “Understand the importance of authentic relationships. While texting, emailing and phone/video calls all have their place in the business world, real relationships are developed in person. Even when things are busy, never forget to take the time to meet in person with both internal and external constituents.”
Animal with whom he most identifies: “I took a quiz and the result was that my spirit animal is a bear. One part of the description of bears I immediately related to is that they have the courage to do the right thing, even in difficult circumstances. This is a value I hold in high regard and personally seek to practice every day. Bears are also known to be competitive, which resonated with me as well. I’ll admit I am a competitive person (even during card or board games with the family!), and I play to win, whether it’s in sports or business. It’s especially gratifying to me when I help our customers ‘win’ when it comes to partnering with them to help them achieve their business goals.”
