Better Piggies Rescue is teaming up with Green Vegetarian and Nami for a two-month fundraising campaign featuring a limited-edition frozen dessert, pig-themed trivia, original artwork created by rescued pigs and a community blood drive.
The campaign, which runs through September, will help support food, shelter, veterinary care and other daily needs for more than 215 rescued pigs living at the Phoenix sanctuary.
“This is such a fun way for people to support the rescue,” said Danielle Betterman, founder and director of Better Piggies Rescue.

“They can grab something good to eat, have a few laughs and learn more about just how smart and full of personality pigs really are. Every tSoyNami, ticket and auction bid helps us care for the animals who call the sanctuary home.”
The partnership gives supporters several ways to take part.
Better Piggies tSoyNami launch: Beginning the week of Aug. 24, Nami, 2202 N. Seventh St., Phoenix, will introduce a limited-edition Better Piggies tSoyNami benefiting the sanctuary. The dessert is Nami’s signature frozen treat, made by blending its ice cream with a variety of toppings.
Better Piggies Snout Art Show and Silent Auction: On Saturday, Aug. 29, Green Vegetarian will turn the spotlight on some unlikely local artists. The show will feature one-of-a-kind pieces created by rescued pigs, along with a silent auction stocked with donations from local businesses and community supporters.
Vitalant Blood Drive: The Vitalant Bloodmobile will visit Better Piggies Rescue in North Phoenix (36246 N. 24th St.) from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 26. Donors can give blood, learn about volunteer opportunities and spend time near some of the sanctuary’s rescued residents.
Better Piggies Rescue also is seeking donations from businesses and individuals for the Saturday, Aug. 29, silent auction. Suggested items include gift cards, gift baskets, artwork, event tickets, locally made products, merchandise, collectibles and unique experiences.
Funds raised throughout the campaign will help cover veterinary treatment, surgeries, medications, food, shelter, rehabilitation and other operating expenses. According to the rescue, feed alone costs more than $2,500 per month, while medical expenses can exceed $5,000.
For many of the pigs, the sanctuary marks a fresh start after difficult circumstances.
“Our pigs have come from many different circumstances, but arriving here gives them the chance to begin again,” Betterman said. “When people attend an event, donate an auction item or simply take the time to learn about pigs, they become part of that story. Community support is what allows us to keep showing up for these animals every day.”
Better Piggies Rescue is a Phoenix-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rescues and rehabilitates pigs, supports responsible adoption and educates the public about the animals. The sanctuary is home to more than 215 rescued pigs, along with several other farm animals.
