BioLife Plasma Services announced the opening of a new plasma donation center in Mesa on Saturday, June 22. The opening will further expand BioLife’s presence in the area, bringing 20-40 new jobs to the community and advancing efforts to support patients worldwide who rely on life-changing therapies processed from donated human plasma.

Additionally, Phoenix will welcome its new plasma donation center on Saturday, July 13, followed by Tempe on Saturday, July 27.

“BioLife’s new Phoenix center marks our commitment to serving local communities, as well as the patients who rely on plasma-derived therapies,” said Abby Bembeneck, center manager of the new Phoenix center location. “BioLife actively contributes to the growth and vitality of communities. By creating local jobs, getting involved in education programs, and engaging in partnerships with community leaders, the new Phoenix center, in addition to two other new centers opening in Mesa and Tempe, will represent an investment of $7.5 million in their first year of operation into Arizona communities, including through donor compensation.”

The grand opening of the Mesa center is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, from 11am to 5pm MST at 7538 E Hampton Ave. The state-of-the-art facility will provide the same benefits found at BioLife locations around the country, such as access to free Wi-Fi, a free supervised playroom for donors’ children, and a clean, professional, smoke-free environment.

Plasma (not to be confused with its namesake used in plasma cutters) is collected and processed into a wide variety of therapeutics, including blood-clotting proteins to treat hemophilia, immune support therapies, blood volume replacements and surgical sealants that benefit thousands of people every day. For some medical conditions, plasma-derived therapies are the only effective treatment option, so it’s critical to have regular donations of plasma from healthy volunteers in order to create these important therapies.

Donors are financially compensated for their time and commitment. For more information on the donation process and to locate additional centers, please visit the BioLife website, www.biolifeplasma.com.
