KTAR News 92.3 FM and 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station, along with the generous donations from the community at large, raised a record $1,728,142 during the 18th annual Phoenix Children’s Hospital Give-A-Thon on Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16. For the past three years, the Phoenix Children’s Give-a-Thon has ranked the largest single radiothon in the country benefiting a Children’s Hospital.
The event, broadcast live over 19 hours from the Hospital, included appearances from KTAR and Arizona’s Sports Station on-air personalities, a phone bank staffed by sponsors and community volunteers, celebrity cameos, including Arizona Cardinals Center AQ Shipley and President Michael Bidwell, and Phoenix Suns Shooting Guard Davon Reed and President Jason Rowley, and more than 15 inspirational stories from the hospital’s superhero patients and staff.
“For our Give-A-Thon to once again be the largest fundraiser in the country for a children’s hospital is incredibly humbling. It is a testament to the amazing people of Phoenix Children’s Hospital and our generous listeners,” said Scott Sutherland, vice president and market manager of Bonneville Phoenix, which operates KTAR News 92.3, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station and ESPN Phoenix. “And we’re so grateful for the support of our amazing Give-A-Thon sponsors, all of which embrace the Phoenix Children’s mission and inspire their employees, customers and business partners to also contribute to the campaign.”
Every dollar raised during Give-A-Thon funds critical programs and initiatives at the Hospital which directly impact the patients and their families that come to Phoenix Children’s for world-class care.
