The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) has hired Maureen M. McDannel as its development director.
McDannel brings experience in overseeing development strategies, cultivating relationships with donors and managing special events.
She previously served as the senior director of development at the Arizona Science Center where she managed a portfolio of major donors and oversaw the individual giving and annual fund campaign.
“Maureen has been mentored by some of the most respected nonprofit leaders and philanthropists in the Valley. We’re impressed with her intelligence, ambition and passion for SARRC’s work and thrilled to have her leading our Development Team as we expand SARRC’s research and programs, and reach more individuals with autism and their families,” said Daniel Openden, SARRC’s president & CEO.
McDannel, who lives in Scottsdale, is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
“I am honored to join an amazing organization that forever impacts the lives of individuals with autism and their families. I look forward to working with the community to advance SARRC’s mission,” she said.
McDannel graduated magna cum laude at Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. In 2012, she earned a certificate from Indiana University in the principals and techniques of fundraising.
