The law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy announced today that Tyler J. Carrell has been elected to serve on the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors.

Carrell was elected to a two-year term, commencing in July 2017.  He previously served on the Board of Governors from 2015-16, a position he served concurrently with his role as president of the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD).  As with his first term, he will be the youngest member of the Board of Governors.

The State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors oversees the policy making and operation of the State Bar. The Board is comprised of 30 people: four non-attorney, public members appointed by the Board; three at-large members appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court; 19 attorney members elected by fellow Bar members in their district; and four ex-officio members (immediate past president and the deans of Arizona’s three law schools).

In addition to his role with the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors, Tyler also is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association (MCBA) Board of Directors and Phoenix’s North Mountain Village Planning Committee.  In 2015, he became the first attorney in Arizona history to serve as president for both the State Bar of Arizona YLD and the Maricopa County Bar Association YLD.  Tyler was recognized for his achievements earlier in 2017 when he received the Maricopa County Bar Association’s inaugural Steven A. Hirsch Outstanding Young Lawyer award.

Carrell has practiced at Gallagher & Kennedy since 2012 as an associate in the areas of real estate, commercial finance, and general corporate law.
