IASIS Healthcare has announced a new addition to its leadership team as Nathaniel Malcolm takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer for Mountain Vista Medical Center a full-service hospital in east Mesa.
As COO of the medical center, Malcolm will oversee financial and operating performance of the 178-bed acute care hospital, its more than 700 employees and more than 500 physicians on the medical staff. In addition, he will cultivate relationships with the hospital’s governing board, physicians and workforce, as well as focusing on opportunities to improve quality of care and service.

Malcolm’s robust background in hospital operations comes from more than a decade of serving in administrative roles at major healthcare facilities in both Arizona and California, including Dignity Health in San Bernardino, Tenet Health in both Phoenix and Lakewood, a suburb of Los Angeles.
With a keen understanding of the need to balance financial and operational performance with positive relationship building, Malcolm has worked tirelessly to implement strategic plans that improved employee/physician satisfaction, financial performance, patient outcomes and service line growth.
In addition to his hospital experience, Malcolm is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, a Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University, a Doctor of Pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Los Angeles.
