Latin America’s largest managed healthcare provider partners with GlobalMed
GlobalMed, an international provider of virtual care solutions, announces a strategic partnership with Meditar, the premier healthcare network in Argentina and Latin America’s largest managed healthcare company. Under the partnership, Meditar will adopt GlobalMed’s industry-leading, evidence-based eNcounter® platform and GlobalMed will help Meditar market direct-to-consumer virtual health—a relatively new concept in South America. Providers on Meditar’s network will use a Meditar-branded version of eNcounter, and patients can download Apps from the Apple Store and Google Play Store for direct access on their mobile devices for remote audio-video consults with Meditar’s doctors.
Meditar provides healthcare throughout Argentina, the eighth-largest country in the world, as well as neighboring countries, and is the medical services provider to the American Foreign Service Protective Association and the U.S. Embassy in Argentina. Its network includes hospitals, healthcare centers, outpatient offices, diagnostic imaging centers, labs, medical suppliers, and other standalone providers. Encompassing most medical and surgical specialties, the 28-year-old company offers cutting-edge care to people from around the world, including patients from Europe and the U.S. Through its partnership with GlobalMed, Meditar’s network of providers will expand their reach to include patients in remote parts of Argentina, thus expanding their access to care via the convenience of virtual visits.
“We researched the right global solution to extend healthcare across Argentina. Like GlobalMed, we believe virtual care is far more than a simple video call and requires the ability to incorporate biometric and clinical evidence into each virtual consultation,” said Erwin Padinger, CEO of Meditar. “GlobalMed’s eNcounter platform has a proven track record in a variety of challenging environments and can bring our world-class primary and specialty care to more Argentinians no matter where they are.”
“We welcome our new alliance with Meditar, which will help push direct-to-consumer virtual care across South America where it can have a major positive impact,” said Joel E. Barthelemy, founder and CEO of GlobalMed.

CORE Institute bicycle racing team shines at Valley of the Sun race
The CORE Racing team, representing Arizona’s top-ranked orthopedic practice The CORE Institute, just peddled their way to an impressive showing at the Valley of the Sun Stage Race in downtown Phoenix.
CORE riders Steve Cullinan, Tom Gates, and Cyril Hunte took third, fourth, and fifth in Sunday’s men’s 55-plus Criterium race, a fast-paced, elbow-to-elbow competition that took riders through a half-hour of twisting laps on city streets lined with spectators but cleared of cars.
Other team members also made strong showings, in both the 55-plus and 45-plus races, finishing just a few seconds off the pace.
“The ‘Blue Train’ had a big impact on the race”, said Dr. Rene Lucas, referring to his teammates and their signature blue helmets and blue-trimmed uniforms. Dr. Lucas practices Interventional Spine and Pain Medicine at The CORE Institute and has been a driving force behind the CORE Racing Team.
“Keep Life in Motion is The CORE Institute’s motto,” said Dr. Lucas, “and that’s exactly what we do. It’s an honor to carry the CORE name into competition.”
