Kidder Mathews announces promotions of senior management

Kidder Mathews has announced the completion of a leadership plan for the firm’s core divisions, brokerage, property management, and valuation advisory. The firm’s four brokerage heads; Brian Hatcher, Northwest, Eric Luhrs, Northern California and Nevada, Robert Thornburgh, Southern California, and Mark Read, Southwest, have been named regional presidents of brokerage for their respective regions. In addition, Keith Kaiser has been promoted to president of the firm’s property management division, and Peter Shorett has been named president of the firm’s valuation advisory division.

In their expanded roles, each will focus on strategic business development, recruitment, and revenue collaboration across the firm’s product lines within their market.

Kapita rejoins engineering consulting firm Terracon

A familiar face is rejoining engineering consulting firm Terracon. Tom “Mando” Kapita has been named Manager of Regional Services – GeoDesign.

Kapita worked at Terracon previously from February 2001 to April 2013 and last served as Geotechnical Department Manager. In his new role Kapita will be responsible for strengthening and expanding GeoDesign services within the Rocky Mountain Division.

He will collaborate with other key team members to identify capabilities throughout the company and develop marketing strategy as needed.

True Food Kitchen names first chief marketing officer

True Food Kitchen today announced the appointment of Shannon Keller to chief marketing officer.  As the company’s first-ever CMO, Keller will lead strategic and innovative marketing for True Food Kitchen throughout the country, overseeing brand strategy and communications, influencer marketing and the digital and creative teams.  Keller is based in the company’s Phoenix headquarters and will work closely with True Food CEO Christine Barone and COO James Liakakos to support the company’s ongoing growth and development, including six new restaurant openings in 2019. 

Keller most recently served as vice president of marketing for True Food Kitchen.  Since joining the company in 2015, she has been keenly focused on supporting the brand’s superior consumer experience and driving sales through strategic brand initiatives, partnerships, events and innovative programs, including the recent launch of the company’s branded online ordering experience.  

Keller brings 20 years of extensive consumer marketing and communications experience to her role as CMO.  Before joining True Food Kitchen, Keller served as Managing Director of The Artigue Agency in Phoenix, where she oversaw day-to-day operations for the firm and managed strategic marketing initiatives for Fairmont Hotels, Waste Management, Phoenix Suns Charities, Cirque du Soleil and Taste of the NFL, among others.  Prior to that, the marketing and PR agency veteran held executive positions at two of the most influential lifestyle marketing and communications firms in the country – PMK∙BNC (Los Angeles) and Weber Shandwick (Chicago) – where she managed and developed compelling marketing campaigns for some of the nation’s most recognizable consumer brands including Samsung, American Express, Bacardi USA, Proactiv Solution, Avon Foundation and more.

MacQueen & Gottlieb hires another attorney

Patrick T. Nackley has joined MacQueen & Gottlieb, PLC (M&G), Arizona’s top-ranked real estate law firm, as senior counsel, the firm announced today. Nackley comes to M&G from Superior Home Services of Scottsdale where he served as Senior Vice President and Corporate Counsel for the past 11 years.

Prior to Superior Home Services, Nackley was managing partner at his own firm, The Law Offices of Patrick Nackley, in Denver, and a junior partner at the Law Offices of John Mattey, LLC, also in Denver. He is admitted to practice in both Arizona and Colorado.

2 internal medicine specialists join faculty at UA

Two new faculty members have joined the University of Arizona Division of Geriatrics, General Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine and Banner – University Medicine in Tucson.

Malvika Varma, MD, and Bulbul Cibei, MD, are general internal medicine clinician educators in the division, which is one of 14 in the UA Department of Medicine — the largest department at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson.

Dr. Varma completed her internal medicine residency and was chief resident at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill. She then joined the Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group/Ascension Medical Group in Milwaukee as a clinical educator in primary care and hospital medicine settings. In that role, she was active in the Graduate Medical Education Committee, Ethics Committee and medical teaching service at hospitals where she worked, which were affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Cibei also completed his residency in internal medicine at Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill., and worked for several years in Milwaukee before joining the UA. He is committed to patient safety and quality improvement and active in medical education.

Both physicians earned their medical degrees from Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences, in Gangtok, India.

At the UA, Drs. Varma and Cibei will teach medical students and resident physicians in ambulatory clinic and inpatient hospital settings in addition to seeing patients in clinic by appointment as primary care providers. They will work at Banner – University Medical Group North Hills, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and Banner – UMC South, which will host their primary care clinic once a week.

Varma and Cibei bring expertise in clinical care and education, and we are delighted that they are part of our growing academic family,” said Division Chief Mindy Fain, MD, a professor of medicine and the Anne and Alden Hart Endowed Chair in Medicine at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson, associate professor of nursing at the UA College of Nursing and co-director of the UA Center on Aging.
