Paris Davis is Washington Federal Foundation honorary board member
Paris Davis, who serves as senior vice president and northwest Arizona retail division manager for Washington Federal in Arizona, has been appointed as an honoree board member for the WAFD Foundation to the Washington Federal Foundation. The Washington Federal Foundation facilitates direct giving to community-based nonprofits and serves the needs of low- and moderate-income individuals across its eight-state footprint.
“To give an idea, the Foundation – under the direction of the board – contributed nearly $800,000 to organizations in need in 2018,” says Davis. “And in the first quarter of 2019 alone, the Foundation has already made $161,300 in contributions to nonprofits across Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Utah.”
In her national role, Davis is eager both represent all of Arizona’s 31 branches as well as increase donations to nonprofits statewide.
Lisa Davey appointed to Metro Tech advisory board
Lisa Davey, who serves as vice president and northeast Arizona retail division manager for Washington Federal in Arizona, has been appointed to the Career and Technical Education Banking and Finance Advisory Board for Metro Tech High School. Through this board, Davey will gather with other volunteer members to discuss how to bring banking and finance skills into the classroom through programs like EverFi, which is an interactive, web-based financial management education tool.
A longtime supporter of the program, Washington Federal most recently partnered with Everfi to bring the program to seven Arizona schools. Since the program’s inception in 2013, it has reached more than 8,000 students.
“Given the enthusiasm with which Metro Tech High School has taken on the Everfi program, it made sense to step up our game and see how we can best work together to take its teachings to a new level,” said Davey. “The web-based platform uses the latest in new media technology – simulations, avatars, gaming and adaptive-pathing – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation.”
Davey adds that the high school course offers over six hours of programming with nine units in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and performance of every student and provides students who successfully complete the course with Certification in Financial Literacy, a valuable mark of distinction on college applications and resumes.
Ross Peterson named vice president at Colliers
Ross Peterson has been named vice president at Colliers International in Arizona. Peterson brings to Colliers more than a decade of experience representing office tenants in lease transactions.
“Ross understands this market inside and out,” says Bob Mulhern, senior managing director of Colliers International in Arizona. “He is a Phoenix native and began his career as a research analyst for one of the industry’s leading firms. Years of leasing experience added to that foundation makes Ross an incredible resource for his clients. We are excited to have him on the Colliers team.”
Peterson began his real estate career as a research analyst at Grubb & Ellis BRE/Cassidy Turley in 2008 before making his way into a production role several months later. He later moved to CBRE where he led business development initiatives resulting in some of Phoenix’s most significant office leases of the time. Peterson possesses extensive experience in corporate real estate, having conducted transactions across the United States and arranging international business dealings as well.
Clients represented by Peterson in the past include: Alaska Airlines, Booker Software, Echo Global Logistics, Facebook, Fulcrum, Hilton Hotels, Jonas Software, MGA Healthcare, Stifel Nicolaus, and Uber Technologies.

Republic Services appoints new president, COO
Republic Services, Inc. announced that Jon Vander Ark has been named president of the Company. As president, Vander Ark is responsible for the Company’s ongoing transformation and continued growth. He will oversee operations, sales, marketing and business development and will continue reporting to Don Slager, chief executive officer.
Prior to this appointment, Vander Ark served as chief operating officer, developing greater rigor around safety, fleet readiness, labor effectiveness and route optimization. He joined Republic Services in January 2013 as EVP, chief marketing officer, responsible for advancing the Republic Services brand, elevating the Company’s customer-centric service approach, and introducing its Priority Based Selling technique and its Capture tablet-based pricing tool.
Tim Stuart has been appointed chief operating officer, succeeding Vander Ark. With nearly 25 years in the industry, starting as operations supervisor, Stuart has deep experience across of all aspects of business operations. He joined Republic Services in 2006 as director of operations and has since held roles of increasing responsibility, including area president; vice president, customer experience; region vice president; region president; and most recently EVP, operations.
During his tenure, Stuart pioneered the Company’s customer experience efforts, implementing service commitment methodologies and metrics, along with its use of Net Promoter Score as a key customer insight tool. Stuart received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University.
