Chandler’s Airpark Area employment corridor is the fastest growing employment area in the City. This nine-square-mile corridor is anchored by the Chandler Municipal Airport, which is among the busiest general aviation airports in the United States. The Airpark Area is comprised of a wide range of real estate choices and Loop 202 frontage and offers large, undeveloped tracts of land designated for employment uses.
The City Council’s Strategic Framework looks at the Airport as an engine for economic development, and the City is working on updating master plans in this area to better plan for the future.
Over the past 10 months the City of Chandler’s Airport Planning Advisory Committee and Coffman and Associates have been working on an update to the Airport Master Plan. An update is required by the FAA every 10 years to be be used as a proactive guide for existing needs, as well as future growth and development within the Airport for the next 20 years. The final Airport Master Plan public meeting to discuss the recommended development concept and proposed capital program will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. The meeting will be held virtually, so interested participants may join online or by phone. To register for the public meeting, visit bit.ly/Airport-RVSP. More information about the Airport Master Plan process can be found online at chandler.airportstudy.com.
As the City approaches build-out, preservation of land within the Airpark Area for future employment will be critical to sustaining economic growth. With this in mind, the City has recently launched the Chandler Airpark Area Plan Update process, to guide future land use decisions and identify the needs of the area. The existing plan was last adopted in 1998 and served the City well, but an update is needed. Chandler is looking to residents to help shape the future development of this area throughout the planning process. Residents can start by participating in an online survey looking at the strengths and needs in the Airpark Area. For more information on the Airpark Area Plan Update, visit chandlercaap2020.com.
