Employees at Amazon’s Phoenix fulfillment centers had cause for celebration this week when they helped the retailer achieve its biggest shopping day ever.

Amazon announced that sales this Prime Day surpassed Cyber Monday, Black Friday and the previous Prime Day, when comparing 36-hour periods, making this once again the biggest shopping event in Amazon history.

Prime Day, now in its fourth year, was in full swing at Amazon’s local fulfillment centers with fun themed activities like dress up days ranging from Western and Disney themes to a day for Superheroes. There were also plenty of treats for the team including lollipops for National Lollipop Day, giant muffins, candy, popcorn and cookies. In addition to various games and scavenger hunts, many Amazonians took home prizes like big screen TVs, Fire tablets, Echo Dots, video game consoles and family packs to Diamondbacks baseball games and the Wet ‘n’ Wild Phoenix Water Park.

Activities were organized by Paul Bania, John Giusti, Matthew High and Brian Wicksgeneral managers of Amazon’s local fulfillment centers, and their teams who helped plan a fun-filled Prime Day for associates while they shipped orders to customers around the world.

“Prime Day is a huge shopping event for our customers and what better way to celebrate here in Phoenix than by treating our team to some fun and excitement – there were raffles, games and scavenger hunts with giveaways,” said Matthew High. “We had a lot of fun but also helped Amazon break records while delivering for our customers and it’s been an awesome day for us all to be involved in.”

Sales growth by small businesses and entrepreneurs far exceeded $1 billion in sales this Prime Day. Products from these unique sellers increase variety, selection, and contribute to the ever-expanding inventory available to Prime members worldwide.

Prime members purchased more than 100 million products during this year’s Prime Day event. Best-sellers worldwide were the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Echo Dot, making this, with 12-hour early access to device deals, the biggest event ever for Amazon devices.
