Cox Communications, the largest private telecom company in America, held its “Smarter Arizona” event in Mesa today to announce the expansion of Cox Fiber, its fiber-to-the-home network, to more residential customers across the Valley. The move aims to provide multi-gig symmetrical speeds to customers throughout the metro Phoenix area.

With this expansion, more than 65% of Cox customers in the Valley will have access to multi-gigabit speeds by the end of this year. Furthermore, over 99% of Cox customers in Arizona already have access to one gig internet speeds.

This increased investment in fiber infrastructure not only caters to the demand for high-speed connectivity but also supports other products and services offered by Cox, including Cox Business, Cox Mobile, and Smart City solutions.

Cox is also enhancing its internet speeds for the majority of its customers. The most popular tier will be doubled from 250 Mbps to 500 Mbps (half a gig) at no additional cost. This upgrade means that over 75% of Cox customers will enjoy speeds of up to half a gig or higher.

Cox Business, on the other hand, already offers multi-gig symmetrical speeds and fiber-powered connections as fast as 100 gig, along with managed cloud services, advanced cybersecurity solutions, and edge networking in all service areas.

Affordability remains a priority for Cox, as evident through its digital equity programs like Connect2Compete, the Affordable Connectivity Program, ConnectAssist, and more. These initiatives aim to ensure that all customers have access to affordable and reliable internet services.

In addition to the network expansion and speed upgrades, Cox recently launched an all-in-one modem WiFi router capable of providing three times the bandwidth and supporting twice as many simultaneous connections within the home. With the average home having more than 25 connected devices, Cox’s network is designed to handle the increasing demand for connectivity.

Cox Communications has a long history of investing in technology upgrades in the Valley, with over $20 billion invested in the last 10 years alone. The company plans to continue making multibillion-dollar annual infrastructure investments in the coming years to provide customers with the most powerful internet, TV, phone, smart home, and mobile services.

As a company deeply committed to creating meaningful moments of human connection, Cox Communications serves approximately 2.5 million product subscribers in metro Phoenix and generates nearly $5.5 billion in total economic impact annually in Arizona. With a focus on diversity and community engagement, Cox’s 3,100 Arizona employees volunteer over 51,000 hours each year to support local communities. The company’s dedication to customer satisfaction has also earned it top rankings in J.D. Power and Associates’ studies.

With Cox’s continued investments in advanced technology, residents in the Valley can expect improved internet speeds, reliability, and performance to meet their evolving connectivity needs.
