Desert Financial raises $550,000 for Phoenix Children’s

Desert Financial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, raised $550,000 for Phoenix Children’s 1 Darn Cool School at its 25^th annual charity golf tournament. More than 180 guests attended the tournament, which took place on March 6 at the Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler.

“It warms my heart to see such enthusiastic support from our attendees,” said Ron Amstutz, Tournament Director, Desert Financial Foundation. “Between our donation last month and the funds raised from the golf tournament today, this year is already proving to be an exciting one for our support of 1 Darn Cool School and Phoenix Children’s.”

In February 2023, Desert Financial Foundation and Desert Financial Credit Union presented Phoenix Children’s with a $1,020,000 donation — the largest single donation ever made by Desert Financial Foundation, the credit union and its employees.

Desert Financial Foundation and Desert Financial Credit Union fully fund the 1 Darn Cool School at Phoenix Children’s, a fully accredited K-12 school with eight full-time master’s level teachers. The program provides hospitalized children with a traditional classroom setting or bedside instruction to help with their schoolwork as they fight illnesses and injuries.

A total of $9.8 million has been donated to the 1 Darn Cool School at Phoenix Children’s during the past 26 years.

Three teams tied for first place at the golf tournament, finishing the game at par gross -16. ASU Football Head Coach Kenny Dillingham and Brad Cesmat of Sports360AZ were among the golf tournament’s attendees.

The tournament’s Presenting Sponsor was Elan Financial Services. Champion Sponsors included Allied Solutions, Business Data Inc., Corelation, Fiserv, Franklin Madison, Desert Financial Credit Union and SwitchThink Solutions.
