Phoenix-based technology distributor, Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), opened registration for its 11th Annual Avnet Tech Games.
College students around the state of Arizona are encouraged to team up and enter the STEM-based competition featuring real-world technology challenges resulting in college scholarships.
The Avnet Tech Games competition will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at The University of Advancing Technology in Tempe.
“In its 11th year, the Avnet Tech Games has been revitalized and offers new STEM-based challenges focused on the emerging technologies that support the Internet of Things,” said Joal Redmond, vice president of public relations, Avnet, Inc. “Not only are the Avnet Tech Games a great way to showcase the IT talent of Arizona’s students, but it’s also an opportunity for students to network with executives from leading tech companies and get advice on how to land a job after graduation.”
Over the years Avnet awarded approximately $330,000 in scholarships and faculty honorariums to students and professors from nearly every college in the state.
This year, the Avnet Tech Games features three new competitive games focused on data interpretation, sensors and security, in addition to six returning games.

Students participating in the Avnet Tech Games will have the opportunity to network with Avnet executives, as well as event sponsors and business leaders from companies such as Cisco, CDW, Hewlett Packard, Logicalis, NetApp, NXP, Microchip, R&R Partners, TDK-Lambda, UAT and World Wide Technology.
