Universal Technical Institute has partnered with KTM North America, Inc., a leading motorcycle manufacturer, to enhance the Motorcycle Technician Specialist training program at its Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) campus in Phoenix, Arizona.

Through this new partnership, KTM will supply the campus with motorcycles, training aids, diagnostic equipment and tools, as well as instructor training to provide students with the opportunity to train on the company’s most advanced motorcycles and technologies during the 36-week Motorcycle Technician Prerequisite program at MMI-Phoenix. The Prerequisite combined with electives teach students how to diagnose, service and repair motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, preparing them for in-demand careers in the motorcycle industry. The KTM partnership will begin in late 2015 with the possibility of expansion to MMI-Orlando in the future.

“UTI’s partnerships with industry leaders like KTM provide our students with the opportunity to train on the most current technologies and tools in the motorcycle industry today,” said Dennis Hendrix, Vice President of Industry Alliances at UTI. “Modern, sophisticated vehicles require advanced training. Our industry-specific, hands-on programs provide students with the skills they need to succeed in high-tech jobs in the motorcycle industry.”

KTM is a leader in the motorcycle industry, with riders on KTM motorcycles winning numerous championships around the world. MMI-Orlando graduate Carlos Rivera is the head technician for Ryan Dungey, part of Red Bull Factory KTM. Dungey’s team won the 2015 Supercross and, most recently, the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450MX Championship. The company has 354 dealers throughout the United States.

“MMI graduates are some of the most sought after motorcycle technicians in the industry, which makes us thrilled to launch our new partnership at the Phoenix campus,” said Michael Cooper, Manager of Customer Service and Programs at KTM North America, Inc. “Learning to build and maintain the latest KTM motorcycles provides aspiring technicians with the fundamental skills they need to achieve lifelong success in their careers. We at KTM want to continue to provide the highest level of customer service. This program allows us to achieve that by educating future technicians on our READY TO RACE philosophy that will enhance the career of the technician as well the ownership experience for the customer.”
