Arizona Forward opens nominations for Environmental Excellence Awards
Arizona Forward, the state’s leading sustainability organization driving major initiatives for Arizona, announced a Call for Entries for its 39th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards presented in partnership with SRP. The awards program is Arizona’s most prestigious recognition related to statewide projects that impact quality of life. The entry process is underway with an extended deadline of July 17, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.
“This year’s awards program is especially important,” said Lori Singleton, CEO and president of Arizona Forward. “As Arizona climbs the ranks of being one of the fastest growing states in the nation and we continue to add more people, rewarding the organizations and individuals who are developing solutions to maintain quality of life is essential. We will also be celebrating Arizona Forward’s 50th anniversary with the community during our awards gala in September. As we celebrate our organization’s past accomplishments, we will also be looking to the future on how we can work collectively as a state to ensure Arizona remains the best place to live, work and play.”
An individual, firm, agency or business in the public or private sector conducting work in Arizona that directly impacts the environment, city resilience or sustainability within the state is eligible for an award.

• Technology Innovation
• Buildings and Structures
• Art in Public Places
• Site Development and Landscape
• Environmental Education and Communication
• Healthy Communities
• Sustainability Champion
• Waste Reduction
“We have been proud to partner with Arizona Forward to honor important environmental projects,” said Kelly Barr, Associate General Manager, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Executive at SRP. “As a founding member of Arizona Forward, we realize that the focus on sustainability is even more critical now than the past. We hope this program and the excellent work from the award candidates will inspire other organizations and individuals in the Arizona community.”
Arizona Forward’s visionary members are year-round supporters of the organization’s programs which include SRP, City of Phoenix, Wells Fargo, Intel Corporation, APS, Honeywell and Freeport-McMoran.
Projects will be reviewed by a judging panel made up of leaders and experts in the community. Award recipients will be announced at the Environmental Excellence Awards & 50th Anniversary Black-Tie Gala held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort on September 21, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The gala is open to the public, but reservations are required. More than 500 esteemed people throughout the state attend the gala each year.
