Abrazo Community Health Network’s Abrazo Maryale Campus has been named a 2016 recipient of the Women’s Choice Award® for America’s Best Stroke Centers.

Abrazo Maryvale Campus, 5102 W. Campbell Ave. in Phoenix, was selected from 1,120 centers that are certified as either an Advanced Primary Stroke Center or Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. This evidence-based designation identifies the country’s best healthcare institutions based on criteria that consider female patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and what women say they want from a hospital, according to Women’s Choice.

“We are pleased to receive recognition of our efforts to provide high quality, personalized care to our patients,” said Crystal Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer for Abrazo Maryvale Campus. “It is our privilege to serve women and their families in the safest way possible.”

Stroke is the fifth highest cause of death in the United States, killing nearly 129,000 people a year. Someone in the U.S. has a stroke once every 40 seconds, according to the American Stroke Association.

As part of National Stroke Month, Abrazo Maryvale Campus along with Abrazo Community Health Network’s five other hospitals and two emergency centers are offering free StrokeCheck events. Health screenings will be offered and participants will learn about stroke risk factors and the signs and symptoms of stroke. For a schedule, go to AbrazoHealth.com/StrokeCheck.
