Abrazo West Campus held groundbreaking ceremonies today for an Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital just a few yards from the acute care hospital campus. The rehabilitation services offered will support patients recovering after traumatic injuries, cardiovascular surgery, stroke, and advanced spine care, among other high acuity services provided at Abrazo West. It will offer a wide range of rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, physiatry, internal medicine as well as surgical and medical subspecialty consultation services.

“We are committed to continuing to expand access to high quality care across the communities we serve,” said Hans Driessnack, Abrazo West CEO. “This new Abrazo rehab Hospital, and its location, will facilitate a seamless transition from our acute care hospital to the next step in the patient’s recovery journey.”
At most inpatient rehabilitation facilities, specialists aren’t able to round on patients because of the distance from the hospital. “We are excited to be able to follow our patients’ rehabilitation progress in a facility that is close to the hospital and in the community where they live,” said Sushant Kale, MD, an Interventional Neurologist and Director of Stroke and Interventional Neurology for Abrazo West Campus. “This model ensures our high-acuity patients receive the full complement of coordinated care as they move into the post-acute stage of their recovery.”
“Providing this type of collaborative care environment matches our mission of growing Abrazo West Campus into a truly comprehensive medical campus for West Valley residents,” said Driessnack. “By having inpatient rehabilitation services on our campus that is supported by physicians on the same medical team, we are able to follow our patients’ care from acute to rehabilitation and their transition back into the community.”
The 24-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital will be located in the two-story Abrazo Litchfield Medical Building under construction at 1375 N Litchfield Road in Goodyear. It will be connected to the Abrazo West Campus via an existing pedestrian footpath. Rehabilitation services will occupy approximately 27,000 square feet on the second floor of the new medical office building and will bring 46 full-time jobs to the area. First floor tenants are expected to include outpatient imaging and physician offices.
The building is scheduled to be complete with occupancy expected in approximately September of 2025. For more information about Abrazo Health hospitals, take a free health risk assessment or to find a doctor, visit AbrazoHealth.com.
