Jim Champlin has been promoted to the role of vice president of finance for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, replacing Dennis Bruns, who will retire early 2016.
Champlin has served as director of decision support for Phoenix Children’s since 2010. In that role, he was responsible for improving budgeting practices, internal financial and productivity reporting, coordinating Medicaid Electronic Health Care Record (EHR) incentive programs, providing critical strategic and analytical support for intergovernmental transactions and academic affiliations and developing key processes and support for the Executive Capital Committee.
As the vice president of finance, Champlin will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. He will also support presentations for the finance and audit committees of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Board of Directors, rating agencies and bond holders, while also working closely with the Phoenix Children’s Hospital executive leadership team.
Prior to joining Phoenix Children’s, Champlin worked as a financial planning manager for BayCare Health System in Clearwater, Florida. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. Champlin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He is a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional and a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Over the next few months, Champlin will transition to his new position alongside Dennis Bruns.
