Casino Del Sol donates 3,000 meals to Tucson healthcare workers

While the temporary closure remains in effect, Casino Del Sol is doing everything they can to help the local community. Starting this past Monday, the culinary staff prepared and delivered lunches to local Tucson hospitals. Over six days they will be serving more than 3,000 healthcare workers at five hospitals as well as multiple Pascua Yaqui Tribe public service departments.

“Supporting our local community, especially those on the front lines, during this uncertain and difficult time is of the utmost importance to us at Casino Del Sol,” said CEO of Casino Del Sol, Kimberly Van Amburg. “We must all come together and do everything we can to help those who are making sacrifices for us. They are so busy caring for others, they don’t even have time to stop and grab lunch, so we brought lunch to them.”

Freshly prepared lunches are being delivered to St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tucson Medical Center, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, Banner – University Medical Center South, El Rio Community Health Center and Pascua Yaqui Tribe Facilities Management Department and Police and Fire Departments.

CIRE Equity helps feed healthcare heroes

CIRE Equity owner and operator of the Park West shopping center and several other neighborhood centers throughout the valley have launched Feed the Leads, a campaign to feed hospital workers at HonorHealth facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Feed the Leads an opportunity to financially support local restaurants at the Park West, Valley Plaza, and Glendale Market Square shopping centers, while rallying behind medical professionals who are working overtime to meet the needs of patients affected by a virus that has already impacted over 3,000 Arizonians, with confirmed cases growing daily.

You can sponsor a meal for hospital frontline workers by donating to the crowdfunding page set up by CIRE Equity: https://www.gofundme.com/f/feed-the-leads. Donations are tax-deductible and will directly go to participating restaurants to cover the costs of the meals.  Nutritious offerings from a variety of participating restaurants will be delivered to multiple HonorHealth locations by The Driver Provider transportation service.

“The COVID-19 crisis has reminded me that during times of uncertainty and now social distancing, our communities always find ways to come together,” said Jill Kobe, Director of Shopping Center Marketing at CIRE Equity. “Donating to our page provides a wonderful opportunity to immediately provide moral support to those that need it now. Thanks to venues such as “Go Fund Me”, making a difference even in the midst of home isolation is now possible”.

Ten local restaurants will be participating in the Feed the Leads campaign, including BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers, Grimaldi’s, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Pita Jungle, Tim Finnigan’s, Cucina Tagliani and Fusion Tea with hopes to onboard more of their shopping centers in the future. Meals will be provided as often as donations allow, with the goal of providing a meal to medical staff at least once per week.
