Deloitte, a leading professional services organization, has announced an expanded relationship with Arizona State University (ASU). At a Smart Regions conference sponsored by ASU, Deloitte said this collaboration with ASU will provide, among other things, full-time internships, learning opportunities, and direct pathways for students in various disciplines to work alongside Deloitte professionals with industry-leading experience in innovative and emerging technologies.

“Consistent with our commitment to the City of Gilbert and our collaboration with state, local and higher education officials in Arizona, we are pleased to create a new focus that emphasizes the STEM disciplines and provides real-world skills and experience to ASU students, an important source of talent for Deloitte’s local Delivery Center,” said Josh Nisbet, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and lead client services partner for the states of California and Arizona. “ASU’s participation in our University Relations program, along with Deloitte’s investment in Gilbert and our plans for expansion, will help us to continue to make a positive impact in the greater Phoenix community.”

In addition to expanding opportunities for traditional students, Deloitte will also work with ASU’s Pat Tillman Veterans Center to provide a clear path from “boots to suits.” Together, the center and Deloitte will match veterans with the skills and attributes Deloitte needs in its three U.S. Delivery Centers, including the Gilbert facility.

“Deloitte already recruits from ASU, and this new program will further set ASU on the course to offer its students a set of broader experiential learning opportunities,” said Sethuraman Panchanathan, executive vice president and chief research and innovation officer, Arizona State University. “We are excited that our students and veterans will be part of a solid pipeline of high-demand talent that can get to work now on the technology projects that will be shaping and transforming our future.”

In June, Deloitte announced the opening of its new 1000+ seat U.S. Delivery Center in Gilbert, which develops and implements emerging technology solutions and business transformation initiatives for federal and civilian agencies, state and local governments, nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions.

Deloitte professionals are leading the way on projects in cloud, Salesforce, robotic and cognitive automation, blockchain, artificial intelligence, SAP, Workday and smart environments for a variety of industries throughout the United States. Their Delivery Center capabilities include custom development and testing, digital services, packaged software implementation, analytics and information management, application management and support, cloud delivery, digital enablement and HR transformation, and risk management and security.

Deloitte’s investment in Gilbert is expected to ultimately generate 2,500 high-tech jobs for the region.
