Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and his wife Nicole Stanton, managing partner of Quarles and Brady’s Phoenix office, have separated after 10 years of marriage.
The two-term mayor made the announcement via a Facebook posting that said, “This is an amicable decision.”
The Stantons released the following statement this morning:
“After 10 years of marriage that brought us tremendous joy and two beautiful children, we have decided to separate. This is a difficult but amicable decision.
“Our children are the light of our lives, and nothing is more important to us than being good parents to them. We will continue to make decisions together based upon their best interest. While we will reside at separate places, we will continue to function as a family and do things together.
“We have always and will continue to respect each other as individuals, as parents, as professionals and in our work in the Phoenix community. Each of us will maintain a strong presence in our community and will continue to attend public events — sometimes together. Don’t hesitate to invite us both– it will not create awkwardness.
“We ask for respect for our privacy during this time, and we will not make any further statements on this matter.
“Thank you for your support.”
