National law firm Polsinelli added Melissa Miller Proctor to its Corporate and Transactional Practice to serve clients from the firm’s Phoenix office. Proctor has extensive experience negotiating and advising manufacturers, retailers (including online retailers), importers and exporters on complex international trade issues involving customs law, export controls, embargoes and economic sanctions, anti-boycott compliance, federal and state agency requirements impacting imports and exports, and trade issues involving non-U.S. jurisdictions.
“I’m excited to be here and look forward to collaborating with my colleagues in Phoenix and nationally to serve my domestic and international clients in a more comprehensive way,” said Proctor. “The collaboration among the firm’s attorneys coast to coast will be a great platform for my clients in the U.S. and abroad.”
Proctor also has experience designing effective import and export compliance programs for businesses, assisting companies in taking full advantage of available duty and cost-savings programs, representing clients through all stages of import and export enforcement actions, and providing timely updates on new legislative and regulatory developments to ensure that companies operating in the global marketplace are well-positioned to navigate the complex arena of international trade. She serves clients in a number of industries including aerospace, defense, computer, software, electronics, high technology, telecommunications, medical devices, pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, textiles, apparel and footwear and automotive.
“We are expanding in strategic ways to best serve our clients and Melissa’s international trade experience brings another unique perspective to our clients,” said Corporate and Transactional Chair Jonathan Henderson. “We are excited to have her on our team.”
