Legacy Sports USA announced today a new partnership with the Association of Pickleball Professionals Tour (APP Tour), agreeing to host an APP Tour event at Legacy Sports Park each year for the next 10 years, starting with the first event of the 2022 APP Tour season at the 320-acre, multi-use family sports and entertainment complex that is set to open in January of 2022.

The first ever professional Tour sanctioned by USA Pickleball, the APP Tour features a series of tournaments in the U.S. and Europe where professionals and amateurs can set performance goals, track results and play against peers in a sanctioned Tour environment that adheres to all USA Pickleball guidelines.  The 2021 APP Tour season features 18 tournaments and more than $700,000 in prize money, and will conclude at the season ending APP Masters International Pickleball Championships, Jan. 18-23.

“How exciting is this to be opening the 2022 APP Tour season at the brand new state-of-the-art Legacy Sports Park,” said APP Tour Creative Founder and CEO Ken Herrmann. “I value my partnership with the entire Legacy team and their vision for growing the sport with one of the premiere venues in America.”

While the 2022 APP Tour schedule is still being finalized, it is confirmed that the APP TOUR will kick off its 2022 season at Legacy Sports Park, Jan. 4-9.  The six-day event will host more than 2,000 players and approximately 15,000 fans; will include professionals, senior professionals and amateur pickleball players; and will offer a prize pool of $75,000.  Registration for this first event of the 2022 APP Tour season will open on July 1, 2021 at https://apptour.org/.

This will be the first professional pickleball tournament to be played at the new Legacy Sports Park, which features a total of 41 pickleball courts, including a 2,500-seat covered Stadium Court, as well as four medal courts.

Legacy Sports Park is a privately owned, 320-acre multi-use family sports and entertainment complex in Mesa, Ariz., currently under construction with plans to officially open to the public in January of 2022.
