50 companies have risen from the constantly evolving and ever-challenging business environment to earn the right to call themselves Arizona’s Most Admired Companies of 2023, including FirstBank.
“Most Admired Companies is the most comprehensive and prestigious annual corporate awards program in Arizona,” says Amy Lindsey, publisher of AZ Big Media, which publishes Az Business magazine and co-founded the Most Admired Companies program with the team from BestCompaniesAZ. “To be called a Most Admired Company, a business must demonstrate excellence in its leadership; corporate culture; innovation; customer relations; community engagement; and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and programs.”
Arizona’s Most Admired Companies will be recognized at a celebration dinner on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix. For sponsorship information, email Amy.Lindsey@azbigmedia.com. What it does: One of the nation’s largest privately-held banks.
Admirable trait: Since 2000, FirstBank has been recognized as a leader in corporate philanthropy, contributing nearly $80 million and thousands of volunteer hours. Additionally, a large portion of its stock is owned by management and employees, giving all employees a financial stake in the bank’s success. FirstBank helped launch and continues to be the main partner behind Arizona Gives Day, a 24-hour online giving program.
DEI efforts: In early 2020, FirstBank opened a Multicultural Banking Center focused on extending financial services to Hispanic, Asian, and Black/African American communities. The Center joins the bank’s growing list of Asian and Spanish Banking Centers, where customers can receive banking services in their native language, ranging from Cantonese to Vietnamese to Ethiopian dialects and more.
