From a field of more than 2,200 women under consideration, the Most Influential Women in Arizona were selected by the editorial board of Az Business magazine and a panel of 12 former Most Influential Women. The Most Influential Women in Arizona Business for 2026 will be honored at a celebratory dinner on Aug. 20, 2026, at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix. Lisa Murphy, chief financial officer, GCON
Background: Murphy is GCON’s CFO. She earned a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Arizona, an MBA from ASU, and is a CPA licensed in the State of Arizona. Murphy began her career in Arizona’s Office of the Auditor General, then the City of Scottsdale, leading the accounting department. She expanded into nonprofits with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation as vice president of finance, then COO. Murphy joined GCON in 2019, now in the role of CFO. She leads the company’s financial trajectory, strengthening GCON’s position as a national contractor, preparing the organization for the next chapter of growth.
Advice to younger self: “You can be an introvert and a successful leader. You can be driven and empathetic. You can be a mom, wife and leader. But don’t be afraid to seek what you need to be successful. If you need time for your family or your own health, find a way, but give 110% when you are able. No matter how much our companies are like family, your job is at its very essence an exchange transaction — your service for their payment, always look for ways to add value.”
Defining legacy: “I want to leave a legacy of valued and honorable service along with helping to encourage and create the next set of leaders.”
Surprising fact: “I love studying music, art and architecture. I studied piano for 12 years, played clarinet in a band, sang in choirs, and was an assistant drum major of my high school marching band. I was fortunate to be able to work at the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and School of Architecture for nine years, where I was surrounded by Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture, world-class architects and architecture students.”
