UnitedHealthcare of Arizona and New Mexico
Background: Since joining UnitedHealthcare in 2002, Kane has held a number of positions, including product development, CEO of the Individual Exchange Marketplace, and CEO of dental. Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, she was a business development consultant with Diamond Technology Partners in New York.
Professional advice: “Don’t lock yourself into a single career path too early, which can often be self-limiting. Know what motivates you, remain flexible and be open to different opportunities as they arise. That approach can lead you to much greater success by leveraging your strengths as your career evolves.”
Lesson learned in 2020: “Take the time to really listen to your team. They are often the first to identify business challenges or issues, as well as the best way to solve them. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by day to day business pressures, but carving out frequent periods of time to hear from your team can pay dividends in future success.”
Surprising fact: “Despite many years of frequent business travel, I really enjoy being at home in my free time, and am fairly domestic. When I do have the opportunity, I spend my time cooking, gardening, walking my dogs and, yes, even cleaning.”
