Key to success: “Everyone around me is incredibly intelligent but I have learned that you don’t have to be the smartest person in the room but rather the most driven.  Having a good work ethic and being highly determined will open the door for success. Whether in new business opportunities or meeting new people, I always try to come into situations with a fresh set of eyes and an eagerness to learn. Everyone has a story and every role has an accomplishment to be made.  Learning to listen before you speak is key in business.  From a leadership perspective, having a values-based approach has been essential.  In the financial industry, and probably many others, employees can often be views as jobs instead of people.  Learning about what drives my team and what is important to them, not only professionally, but personally and working towards that intersect. I have been told, ‘In business, like in life, the best leaders are warm on people and cold on issues.’  Finally, having good mentors is essential.  Personally, my parents have been my greatest mentors; professionally, my prior supervisor has continued to be a mentor to me and really helped pave the way for my success.  He has since moved on to create his own company and still continues to guide me.  I strive to be a mentor to others and help guide them on their path to success.”

Source of pride: “I am beyond blessed to have been able to work my way up within organizations.  I think my biggest accomplishment that gives me the most pride is being able to show my two daughters that you can do anything you set your mind to and you can do it with grace and kindness.”

Surprising fact: “For generations, my family has only bought Ford cars. We have a ’63 F-F100  and two ‘65 Mustangs that we have restored. My oldest daughter, Shelby, is actually named after the car.”
