Sara Regan, senior vice president and general counsel, Desert Financial Credit Union
BACKGROUND: As senior vice president and general counsel at Desert Financial Credit Union, Sara K. Regan oversees all legal, audit, risk, vendor management and compliance functions. Regan also serves on the board of directors of the credit union’s charitable foundation, as well as on the boards of several credit union subsidiaries.
SOURCE OF PRIDE: “My career has been in two acts. One is as a lawyer, a litigator and a trial lawyer at a law firm. And then I went to Desert Financial and became their general counsel. And this trial that I was a part of spanned both of those because it was while I was a partner at the firm (and also 37 weeks pregnant!), but it was representing Desert Financial. It was a really good result for the client, who I now work for.”
SURPRISING FACT: “I really love game shows. I would love to be on Jeopardy! I’m not in a space where I have enough time to study for it right now, but it is one of my life aspirations — to be on Jeopardy!”
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: “The most influential women in my life are probably the women lawyers who I’ve modeled myself after, particularly Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I’m really inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the fact that she was a mother and that she fought for equality and women’s rights, especially during the time that she did it. I find her quite inspirational.”
