1. Phoenix Zoo
Background: The Arizona Center for Nature Conservation/Phoenix Zoo is one of the largest nonprofit zoos in the country. Closed for 161 days in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Zoo is grateful to the thousands of guests, members and supporters who helped us throughout our closure. Reopened now, the Zoo has implemented safety protocols, virtual programming and is able to offer a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone to admire the more than 3,000 animals who call the Zoo home. The Zoo has been a Valley treasure for nearly 60 years.
Outlook for 2021: “We are hopeful. Our ability to be innovative and creative during the challenges of 2020 has given us a bright outlook for 2021. We remain committed to think outside the box and bring our love of the natural world and its animals to the public by whatever means necessary.”
