RICK Engineering acquires Cypress Civil Development
RICK Engineering Company (RICK), a multidisciplinary planning, design and engineering firm serving the western United States with 10 offices, has acquired Cypress Civil Development, a 12-year-old civil engineering and survey firm with offices in Tucson and Phoenix.
The acquisition of Cypress Civil, which has a staff of 26 engineering professionals, surveyors and administrative personnel, expands RICK’s capabilities, expertise and relationships within the Arizona market. The entire staff of Cypress Civil is transitioning to RICK’s offices in Phoenix and Tucson.
“We are excited to join the RICK family,” said Kevin Hall, PE, co-owner of Cypress Civil. “The company’s reputation, leadership in the industry and family-oriented atmosphere were great enticements,” he said. “Additionally, RICK offers career advancement, benefits, resources and stability that will benefit every member of the Cypress Civil team. This is the right move at the right time.”
Hall is joining RICK as principal in the Tucson office. His two partners and co-owners, Jeff Hunt, PE, and Derick Schumacher, PE, have been named as associate principals and will assume co-leadership roles in the Phoenix office.
“We’ve been impressed with the way Cypress Civil has built a thriving business from the ground up in a short time,” said Paul Iezzi, PE, president of RICK Engineering Tucson. We’ve worked together and side-by-side with the folks at Cypress Civil and it became obvious that we share the same culture and have a complementary skill set that will help us expand our capabilities in Arizona. This acquisition also meets our needs for succession planning and building a strong core of future leaders.”
RICK, which was established in San Diego in 1955, has been serving the Arizona market since 1984 and has offices in Phoenix and Tucson. RICK has a diverse workforce of more than 350 professionals who collaborate and work seamlessly from 10 offices in California, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada.
