Mercury announce WBNA playoff schedule

Mark your calendars, it’s time to BEAT L.A. The Phoenix Mercury announced the club’s schedule for the opening round of the 2013 WNBA Playoffs, which will begin a week from today, Thursday, Sept. 19th, in a nationally-televised matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Mercury’s best-of-three first-round series against Los Angeles begins at STAPLES Center on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.  Game 2, the Mercury’s first-round home game, will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. at US Airways Center.  The game will be shown nationally on NBA TV.  If necessary, Game 3 is in Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 23, and will tip off at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

The opening two rounds (Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals) are best-of-three series, and the WNBA Finals is a best-of-five format.  The Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm will square off in the other Western Conference first-round series.

Phoenix is making its eighth playoff appearance all-time, fourth in the last five seasons, and fifth in the last seven campaigns overall.
