Artificial intelligence startups continue to dominate venture capital headlines in 2026, with major funding rounds and soaring valuations reshaping the global startup landscape. As investors pour billions into next-generation technologies, from AI infrastructure to autonomous systems, a recent report exploring the world of private businesses valued at US $1 billion or more, known as unicorns, has revealed the world’s most valuable private startups.

For this report, the team at BestBrokers analyzed the Crunchbase Unicorn Board’s list of private startups with a valuation of at least $1 billion, or the so-called ‘unicorns’. Data was also aggregated from PitchBook and several other sources on the largest private company funding rounds and company valuations throughout 2025 and 2026.

Data shows that Elon Musk’s SpaceX has emerged as the world’s most valuable private startup, reaching a staggering $1.25 trillion valuation following its merger with xAI, the billionaire’s other high-profile venture. The deal makes it the most valuable private company in history, overtaking OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, whose valuation has also surged to $840 billion after securing the largest investment ever made in a private company, a $110 billion backing from Nvidia, SoftBank, and Amazon.
