Peoria and West Valley residents will soon have expanded access to quality health care as Valleywise Health announced today the opening of its newest, state-of-the-art Valleywise Comprehensive Health Center – Peoria at Grand Ave. and Cotton Crossing. This is the most recent addition in the expansion of its network of federally qualified health centers as the safety net health system continues to act on its mission to bring quality, convenient and affordable health care options directly to communities in need. The new facility will take the place of their current locations in El Mirage and Glendale.
The 126,000-square-foot facility will open in two phases and will offer services not currently available through other Valleywise Community Health Centers in the western portion of Maricopa County. Available immediately are primary and pediatric care, women’s obstetrics, cardiology, dental, dialysis and pharmacy services. In April, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, gastrointestinal, audiology, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services will be available to the public.
The new comprehensive health center is also host to a Family Learning Center (FLC) which provides guidance and resources to improve the health of families in the Peoria and Northwest Valley. Whether a class on nutrition, parenting tips or receiving information on insurance options, the FLC is available to provide assistance to those seeking it. Due to COVID-19, the FLC hours are currently limited but virtual classes are available along with sessions by appointment only.
“In our mission to improve health care outcomes for patients across the Valley, we identified a specific need in the Peoria area and determined this the best location to open this truly comprehensive health center,” says Sherry Stotler, Chief Nursing Officer at Valleywise Health. “Unlike our other community health centers, Peoria will provide expanded services not available at our other CHC’s like dialysis, cardiology, orthopedics and surgery to name a few. This is a center that residents of Peoria should be proud to have available to them and we look forward to caring for all who need it.”
Longtime Valleywise Health partners, District Medical Group will be providing the clinical staff for Peoria with in-person and telehealth appointments available now. All COVID-19 guidelines are being followed for in-person visits to include visitation limitations.
“This is a significant milestone in our history as we continue to expand availability of quality, affordable health care for patients who may feel they have nowhere to turn,” says Steve Purves, President and CEO of Valleywise Health. “The last year has seen major transformation for Valleywise Health as we opened brand new locations in Laveen and North Phoenix. Now with Peoria online, we are seeing our Care Reimagined vision come to fruition and with that will come renewed health for those who trust us with their care.”
