Chasse Building Team, whose Tucson office is located at 5115 N. Oracle Road, has been awarded the 2018 Copper Cactus Award for Business Growth by the Tucson Metro Chamber. The building contractor, who opened its office in Tucson in 2016 after working in the area since 2014, was selected by a panel of judges from 52 finalists and hundreds of nominees. Leigh-Anne Harrison, client services for Chasse Building Team, accepted the honor on behalf of the company during the Tucson Metro Chamber Copper Cactus Awards event, presented by Wells Fargo, on October 12 at the Casino Del Sol Resort.

“A region’s economic strength derives from its business community. Small businesses are leading the way, driving innovation, generating job growth and advancing economic prosperity,” said Barbi Reuter, Tucson Metro Chamber board chair and president of Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR.

In Southern Arizona, Chasse Building Team’s recently completed projects include the Tucson Premium Outlets, Gladden Farms Elementary School in Marana and Mountain View High School College Career & Life Skills Center in Tucson.

“Mountain View was a special project as it gave us the chance to build a new 8,400-square-foot area to accommodate the school’s special needs program,” says Barry Chasse, president of Chasse Building Team. “The center includes a life skills learning center; a co-teaching classroom; a work area for the teachers; an office that supports one-on-one meetings, IEP reviews, testing, counseling and other critical functions; and a drop-in resource center for parents and students preparing for college or to enter the work force.”

Currently, Chasse Building Team is working on adding a medical automatic cart sterilizer to the Banner – University Medical Center South Campus and rebuilding Walter Douglas Elementary School in the Flowing Wells Unified School District. They also recently broke ground on a new K-8 school at Dove Mountain that integrates computer, science, technology, engineering and math (C-STEM) into every class.

“We are also moving to a new, bigger Tucson headquarters, expanding our space to 3,000 square feet to accommodate our growth,” says Chasse, who expects to be in to the new space by January 2019.
