LA Fitness undertakes major renovation of Arizona locations

LA Fitness, an operator of 43 clubs in the state of Arizona, is launching a large-scale remodeling effort of 21 metropolitan Phoenix and five Southern Arizona locations. With the remodeling effort, a cutting-edge, high-intensity interval training workout, HIIT by LAF, is launching the second studio in the nation at 3301 E. Bell Road in Phoenix. 

Part of a national undertaking, the clubs’ refurbishment ranges from the modernization of equipment and specialized flooring to the introduction of a new color palette and refreshed studios and child-care areas. LA Fitness’ $13.6 million renovation investment in its Arizona clubs is complemented by the recent introduction of HIIT by LAF at the national fitness leader’s E. Bell Road location in Phoenix. The next HIIT by LAF offering in Arizona will be at a new LA Fitness club at 1310 S. Higley Road in Gilbert, and is expected to open its doors in early 2019.

High-intensity interval training was recently endorsed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a highly beneficial form of exercise. Designed for every level of fitness and goal type, HIIT by LAF is a high-tech, high-energy workout led by certified fitness coaches. With each workout lasting 50 minutes, members take part in a variety of functional exercises, core training, cardio interval training and strength training.

Wearing optional heart rate monitors, participants are led through five heart rate training zones, with each zone representing variations in levels of intensity that may result in participants burning up to 1,000 calories per workout including calories that may burn even after the workout ends (results may vary). After analyzing several studies, HHS determined that HIIT “can effectively improve cardiorespiratory fitness (increase VO2 max) in adults with varied body weight and health status” and can also help with insulin levels, blood pressure, and body composition.

Unlike most other traditional high-intensity interval training programs, HIIT by LAF offers a different workout every day, using cutting-edge equipment in a state-of-the-art studio, packed with modern interactive technology that provides participants guaranteed real-time feedback and motivating music that helps get the adrenaline going. People of all fitness levels are challenged, as the knowledgeable and passionate motivating coaches deliver an inspiring, fun and effective fitness experience in less than one hour. To deliver optimal results, the workout is comprised of three key workout formats:

• Strength: Build strength and lean muscle while burning calories in this intense heart-rate- targeted workout. A variety of strength training equipment, including bikes, rowers and treadmills, is used to help you achieve a stronger body. Additionally, varying weights with fewer repetitions help maximize power and muscular strength.

• Endurance: Increase overall cardiovascular and muscular conditioning while achieving a lean and healthy physique. High repetitions with short bursts of core-challenging exercises are programmed to increase fitness on the treadmill, rowers and bikes to boost muscular and aerobic endurance.

• Define: Sculpt a toned, fit body through periods of high-, medium- and low-intensity intervals with rest periods to improve athletic performance. Dynamic exercises and drills build muscle and increase power. 

Our coaches are highly-skilled and motivating with experience in personal training and/or group fitness instructions.
