Since the outbreak of Covid-19, it seems more people have been looking for new things to get into. Perhaps the pandemic has been a wake-up call for many people. While on lockdown a lot of us had the chance to assess our lives and get motivated to try new things.
Tourists from all over the world visit Arizona, as it is full of exciting places to visit. With staycations just as popular as they were in 2020, people from all over the country are flocking there. Most of the residents love the great outdoors and take pride in their beautiful state. With so much to do in Arizona, it’s hard to know where to start.
1. Inflatable Paddle Board
In the past paddleboards only seemed popular in high-end hotels looking out into the sea, however, nowadays, inflatable paddle boards have become extremely popular. Not only are wide and long fibreglass paddle boards an inconvenient item to travel with, but they also cost a lot of cash too. Although a lot of people would have loved to bring their shiny board to Arizona with them, they worry about how they are going to fit the item in a car or a plane.
Most inflatable paddle boards on the market can be stored in a carrier bag once deflated, plus, you can reduce the size of the paddle so that it can easily fit in your bag. There are lots of affordable stand-up inflatable paddle boards available in physical and online stores. You can pick one up for as little as $400. Unlike surfing, paddleboarding is a lot easier to master. After a few goes most people easily maintain their balance.
There are lots of places throughout the state ideal for paddleboarding. One of the most popular spots is the well-known Lake Havasu. Although it is incredibly beautiful, the lake is also a very popular boating destination. If you want to have a peaceful day paddling on your board, maybe check out Lake Pleasant instead.
2. Electric Scooter
If you are looking for a fun and environmentally friendly vehicle, consider investing in an electrical scooter. Although there are many places throughout Arizona, especially in major cities where you can rent scooters, why not bring your own instead and save some money. Plus, it will save your money having to pay for a taxi or renting a vehicle when you arrive.
In Arizona, you don’t need to have a driver’s license to legally drive an electric scooter on public roads. The same law applies to electrical bikes too. However, those who ride these vehicles are expected to keep an eye out for road signs when they are driving. In Arizona, the law states that riders cannot exceed twenty-five miles per hour.
The one downside to riding an electrical scooter is that you can have an accident and you can get seriously injured. There are lots of injuries caused by electric scooters each year in Arizona, and authorities and medical workers ask that people take extra care when driving them. Before you ride on a public road, practice in a large open space first to build up your confidence. Understand the rules of the road and where you can and cannot ride. Before taking your scooter for a ride, check to see that your breaks and your brake lights are working properly. There are plenty of scooter repair stores throughout the state if you have any issues. A recent study that was carried out by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention showed that 4 percent of people involved in an accident while driving a scooter suffered head injuries. Whether you are taking your scooter out on a public road or in a private area, make sure you always wear a helmet. For more information on electric scooters, check out these electric ride guides.
3. Rock Climbing Equipment
A lot of seasoned rock climbers think that Arizona is the best place on this planet to go climbing. If you love rock climbing, don’t forget to bring your gear with you. There is a wide range of hidden treasures in the state that are worth climbing.
If you are new to rock climbing, there are lots of smaller walls too, and there are rock climbing courses and equipment for rent too. There are lots of outdoor stores selling new and second-hand climbing equipment. Rock climbing is one of the best full-body workouts you can do. From small crevices and cracks to big or small walls, Arizona has it all. Rock climbing is a great way to find hidden trails in Arizona and see different wildlife.
One of the best climbing destinations in the state is Mount Lemmon, which is in Tucson’s Santa Catalina Mountains. Although a lot of the locals in the area love the wall, very few people know about it. There are almost two thousand climbing routes and lots of bouldering spots. The area is ideal for both beginners and advanced climbers.
4. Golf Clubs
With over three hundred courses around the state, golfers are spoilt for choice. If you have always wanted to play golf in desert terrain, now’s your chance. However, the Arizona heat might not suit everyone. Some people view this sweltering heat as the worst conditions to go golfing in. Here are a few tips to help you enjoy golfing in Arizona:
Stay Hydrated: You must stay hydrated while golfing in the state. However, there is much more to staying hydrated than bringing a bottle of water with you around the golf course. The night before, avoid consuming alcohol or caffeine, instead drink plenty of water. Bring a wet towel around with you on the course and place it on the back of your neck if you need to cool down.
Go out early: An early tee time can help you avoid the hottest part of the day. Plus, if you get out there early the chances of a lot of people being on the course is slim. Not only will it be cooler, but there will be fewer people on the course so you can finish your round before it starts to get too hot.
Sunscreen: Sunscreen and lip balm are a must when golfing in Arizona during the warmer months. Before you hit the course, apply sunscreen and after around one and a half hours apply some more.
Clothes: Light-colored clothes are advised when golfing in Arizona. Make sure that your t-shirt and trousers are both breathable. Sunglasses that reduce glare and a peaked hat are also worth bringing along.
Stay in the shade: A golf buggy can make a huge difference while golfing in Arizona. You can sit under the shade inside a golf buggy while others are taking their shots. If you don’t want to take a buggy, bring an umbrella instead. Not only will the umbrella help you stay in the shade but, it will also prove beneficial if it starts to rain.
If you can handle the heat, then make sure you bring your golf clubs when visiting Arizona. One of the best courses in the state is The Meadows which is located at the Forest Highland. With small greens and lots of lakes, it’s not for beginners, but advanced players will love it!
